At Bundaberg & District Meals on Wheels, our volunteers are the heart and soul of everything we do. Every delivery made, every smile shared, and every connection formed is thanks to the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and compassion to support over 800 clients across our region.
Each year, we take a moment to celebrate these everyday heroes through our Volunteer of the Year Awards and Service Recognition Awards — an opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to those who go above and beyond.
Volunteer of the Year Awards
The Volunteer of the Year Award recognises individuals who embody the spirit of Meals on Wheels — generous, reliable, and deeply committed to the wellbeing of others. These volunteers consistently step up, inspire those around them, and make an outstanding contribution to our service.
Winners are nominated by the board and staff and selected based on their dedication, positive attitude, and the impact they’ve made within our volunteer team and the wider community.
Service Recognition Awards
Our Service Recognition Awards honour the incredible commitment of volunteers who have dedicated multiple years of service to BMOW. From 5-year milestones all the way through to 20+ years, these awards acknowledge the loyalty, endurance, and quiet dedication that sustain our organisation year after year.
Whether they’re out delivering meals, helping in the kitchen, lending a hand at events, or checking in on clients — each of these individuals has made a lasting difference in the lives of so many.
